FAQs about Tea
Does tea expire?
-Tea does not expire but over time it will start to dry out further, become stale and loose some natural health benefits within the leaves.
How should I store my tea?
-Keep tea in a cool, dry place. Do not store in freezer or refrigerator. It is very important to store in an airtight container to keep out all moisture, oxygen, light and other aromas that would otherwise damage the tea’s natural flavors.
What is the difference between black, green, white and oolong tea?
- All these teas are made from the leaves of the Camellia Sinensis plant. Black tea has a stronger flavor with more caffeine than green, oolong and white teas. By processing the leaves differently it reaches different levels of oxidation.
How do you prepare chai tea?
(This recipe is for one large mug, you can double, triple, etc to suit your needs.)
Loose Chai tea is super easy and just as quick as making regular tea but instead of boiling a kettle and letting it steep, you...
Make sure you give your bag of tea a gentle shake, the spices tend to settle, then...
1. Bring 2 cups of water to boil in a pot and add 2 heaping teaspoons of loose chai. Simmer for 3 minutes for green chai tea and 5 minutes for all others, depending how strong you like it.
2. Add ¼ cup milky product (milk, soy, cream) and 1-2 tsp of your favorite sweetener or to taste. Bring your mixture to a boil without letting the bubbles rise. Use more or less milk and sweetener to make it the flavor you like.
-3. Strain into your favorite mug or teapot and enjoy.
HOT AND YUMMY!
How to make a chai concentrate for iced chai?
-Prepare your chai as above without adding any milky product. Make sure to make a bigger batch so you have a lot of concentrate. Strain and let completely cool. Store in refrigerator for up to 6 weeks in an airtight container or jar.(You'll drink it up...It won't last that long!!)
To use, poor over ice and add milk or mix in a blender with ice, milk or ice cream! Mmmm
